St Zaia Sunday School

St Zaia Sunday School

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” — Matthew 19:14

Mission and Purpose

Grounded in this sacred commandment of our Lord, the mission of St. Zaia Sunday School is to serve Jesus Christ by instilling the truths of His Word into the hearts of our children, preparing them to become faithful disciples.

Our program strives to nurture children spiritually and morally through the study of Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Church. We aim to foster a lifelong personal relationship with our Savior through prayer, regular church attendance, Scripture study, and active participation in the sacramental life of the Ancient Church of the East.

Language of Instruction

The primary language of instruction is English. However, foundational Church prayers, hymns, and key liturgical terms are integrated in Assyrian (Aramaic) to keep children connected to our sacred heritage.

Classes and Age Groups

Children attend St. Zaia Sunday School every week and are placed into classes according to their age and academic year. While a unified spiritual curriculum is followed across the school, each class features age-appropriate activities, lessons, and discussions tailored to meet the developmental and spiritual needs of every child.

  • Eligible Ages: 4 to 12 years old
  • Schedule: Sundays during school terms | 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Location: St. Zaia School Facilities

Our Dedicated Teaching Staff

Our Sunday School program is led by a team of committed volunteer teachers and staff. Our educators bring diverse professional and personal backgrounds—including public and private school teachers, childcare professionals, and devoted mothers—all united by a desire to nurture the next generation in faith.

What to Bring

  • Provided by the School: All stationery, workbooks, craft materials, and learning resources are fully provided. Children do not need to bring school bags or supplies.
  • What to Bring: Children are simply required to bring a hat for outdoor break times.

Why Send Your Child to Sunday School?

As Christians, we are entrusted with the Great Commission to share the Gospel and God’s eternal love. Jesus declared:

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6

Furthermore, Holy Scripture reminds us that "there is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

Bringing your children to Sunday School gives them a structured, loving environment to encounter Christ, learn His Word, and embrace Him as their Lord and Savior. Each week, children participate in:

  • Old and New Testament Bible stories and readings
  • Guided formal and informal prayers
  • Learning about Church sacraments, traditions, and major feast days
  • Christian music, hymns, arts and crafts, and interactive games
