“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”
— Matthew 17:20
Our Mission
Mountain Movers Youth Group is the official youth ministry of St. Zaia Cathedral, created to inspire, equip, and empower the next generation to live out their faith in Christ with courage, purpose, and love.
Our mission is to bring young people closer to Christ, strengthen their understanding of the Holy Scriptures and the faith of the Church of the East, and create a community where every young person feels welcomed, valued, supported, and connected.
We believe that faith is not simply something we learn—it is something we live. Like a mustard seed, even a small faith can grow into something powerful when it is placed in the hands of God. We want to encourage our young people to trust God, overcome challenges, serve others, and have the courage to move the “mountains” they encounter in life.
We seek to:
- Grow in Christ through prayer, Bible study, worship, and spiritual formation.
- Build strong Christian friendships where young people encourage, support, and pray for one another.
- Strengthen our Assyrian identity and heritage, recognising our responsibility to preserve and carry forward the faith, language, traditions, and history of our people.
- Serve the Church and wider community through outreach, volunteering, charity, and practical acts of Christian love.
- Develop young leaders who can use their gifts, talents, and voices to serve God and others.
- Create a safe and welcoming community where young people can ask questions, share their experiences, and grow in faith without fear of judgement.
- Equip young people for everyday life, helping them connect their faith with their family, friendships, education, work, and future.
- Encourage courage and hope, reminding every young person that with God, obstacles do not have the final word.
Our Vision
We envision a generation of young people who are rooted in Christ, proud of their Assyrian heritage, committed to the Church, and ready to serve their community.
Mountain Movers is more than a youth group. It is a family and a place where young people can belong, believe, grow, serve, and lead.
Whether you have grown up in the Church, are rediscovering your faith, or are simply looking for a place to connect with other young people, you are welcome at Mountain Movers.
